The Jaguar I-Pace is an electrically powered car model from the British manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover . It was presented in March 2018 and launched in the fall of the same year.
history
A first concept vehicle was presented at the LA Auto Show in November 2016.
The Jaguar I-Pace premiered on March 1, 2018 in Graz . The I-Pace will be produced there from mid-2018 at the contract manufacturer Magna Steyr on an assembly line with the Jaguar E-Pace . The public premiere took place on March 6, 2018 at the Geneva Motor Show .
In 2018 a cooperation with Waymo was announced, whereby 20,000 I-Pace vehicles are used as a platform for self-driving cars.
At the beginning of the 2021 model year, the I-Pace EV320 SE was presented at the same basic price with more features but less performance.
technology
The five-seat sports utility vehicle is 4.7 meters long and 1.89 meters wide. Due to the short front section and the long wheelbase, the passenger cabin moves far forward and takes advantage of the lack of an internal combustion engine. The interior is equipped with touchscreens and is characterized by fine materials such as wood and leather.
When it comes to the chassis, the I-Pace relies on the axles of the Jaguar F-Pace - i.e. double wishbones front and integral link rear axles. The low center of gravity - the batteries are centrally located between the axles in the underbody - should also contribute to dynamic driving behavior. The average energy consumption in the WLTP is 21.2 kWh per 100 km. The range of the model equipped with a 90 kWh lithium-ion battery is 480 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. The price for the basic version starts at 77,850 euros.
drive
The drive is integrated in front and rear axle permanent magnet - synchronous machines with a peak power output of 147 kW (200 hp), the maximum torque is 348 Nm. Overall, this results in a system output of 294 kW (400 PS) and a maximum torque of 696 Nm. The top speed of the vehicle is electronically limited to 200 km / h, from 0 to 100 km / h the car accelerates in 4.8 seconds.
A drive unit, consisting of an electric machine, gearbox and differential, weighs approx. 76 kg, the reduction of the planetary stage is 9.06: 1. The maximum speed of the eight-pole permanent magnet synchronous machine is 13,000 / min, the continuous output is 90 kW. The cooling takes place via a water jacket cooling of the stator of the electrical machine.
The power electronics (inverter) from the supplier Continental are located in the immediate vicinity of the drive units on the front and rear axles.
Battery technology
The lithium-ion battery with a nominal energy content of 90.2 kWh (Jaguar does not specify the usable net energy content) consists of 432 pouch cells from the Korean supplier LG Chem and weighs a total of 606 kg. The battery contains 36 modules with 12 cells each. One cell has a capacity of 58 Ah. In total, the parallel connection of four cells results in a nominal capacity of 232 Ah. The nominal voltage of the battery is 389 V. At the system level, this results in an energy density of 149 Wh / kg, the NMC battery cells themselves have an energy density of 257 Wh / kg. The peak output of the battery is 358 kW, the continuous output is 110 kW.
The battery can be actively cooled and heated via a water- glycol circuit. The desired temperature range is between 15 ° C and 30 ° C.
Jaguar grants a manufacturer's warranty of 3 years or guarantees a maximum mileage of 100,000 km, whichever comes first.
Load capacity
The Jaguar I-Pace will be equipped with a three-phase on-board charger from model year 2021 and can thus be charged from an alternating current connection (AC) with an output of 11 kW. In the vehicles built previously, the onboard charger was only designed for single-phase charging with up to 7.0 kW (230 V, 32 A single-phase) alternating current. This was a disadvantage because of the unbalanced load regulation in force in Germany , as this 32 A can only be accessed in private households with special permission from the distribution network operator, otherwise charging can only be carried out with 20 A single-phase (therefore only 4.6 kW). The maximum charging power at CCS fast charging stations is 100 kW (DC).
Others
The car has a c w value of 0.29. With the help of the optionally available air suspension, the vehicle can be lowered by 10 mm at speeds of over 105 km / h in order to improve the aerodynamics and thus increase the range.
The heat pump circuit, which works much more efficiently than conventional resistance heating, also helps to maximize the range .
The Jaguar I-Pace has a cargo space of 1453 liters with the rear seat folded down. There is also a 27-liter storage compartment at the front.
