Previous model Jaguar S-Type
successor Jaguar XF (X260)

The Jaguar XF (internal: Jaguar X250) is a car series from the British manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover Limited , which is located in the upper middle class . The successor to the Jaguar S-Type was presented to the public in September 2007 at the IAA in Frankfurt. The vehicle has been on the German market since March 8, 2008.

In summer 2011 it was visually revised and its design was based on the new XJ . As a technical innovation, the XF got a new entry-level diesel engine. From November 2012 there was also a station wagon ("Sportbrake").

General

Rear view

In terms of design, the XF relies on modern coupé-like shapes instead of the familiar retro styling of the S-type. Technically, the XF is largely based on the Coupé XK . So the floor pan , chassis, drive and numerous components were taken over from the Jaguar XK. The XF X250 was available in three different configurations: Luxury , Premium Luxury and SV8 . The Luxury was available with a V6 twin turbo diesel, the Premium Luxury with the same diesel, the V6 or a V8 naturally aspirated engine. The SV8 was only available in combination with a supercharged V8 engine.

In the interior of the XF, there were some innovations, such as the rotatable air vents for the automatic air conditioning, the touchscreen monitor and the JaguarDrive Selector . The gears of the automatic transmission were selected via a large round controller that rises from the center console when the vehicle is started. The successor model X260 also has these details.

The trunk held around 500 liters (540 liters with a spare wheel recess). If necessary, the back seat could be folded down. The capacity grew to a maximum of 960 liters. The trunk of the station wagon held 550 l or 1675 l.

In 2008 the Jaguar XF received a red dot design award .

safety

In the Euro NCAP crash test in November 2010, the Jaguar XF received 28 points for occupant protection, 32 points for child protection and 16 points for pedestrian protection.

Technical specifications

Initially, there were three engines to choose from: a 2.7-liter V6 twin turbodiesel from Ford , which was developed together with PSA and was also installed in the PSA models Peugeot 407 and 607 as well as Citroën C5 and Citroën C6 ; a 3.0-liter V6 gasoline engine from Ford, which was also available (until 2007) in the Ford Five Hundred and in the top-of-the-range ST 220 of the then Ford Mondeo ; as well as the only engine manufactured by Jaguar itself, a 4.2-liter V8 gasoline engine as a naturally aspirated or supercharged engine.

In April 2009, Jaguar introduced a 3.0-liter diesel engine that had been developed from the 2.7-liter and was offered in two power levels (176 and 202 kW) for the XF. The two 4.2-liter V8 petrol engines were replaced by two 5.0-liter V8 petrol engines.

In May 2010, the 2.7-liter diesel engine was replaced by a version of the 3.0-liter engine that had already been introduced, which had been throttled to 155 kW. From 2011 there was also a 2.2-liter diesel (147 kW / 200 PS, max.torque 450 Nm at 2000 rpm, 135 g / km CO 2 ).

Facelift

In August 2011 the XF was revised . Most of the changes were 'cosmetic', for example the design of the headlights was changed to more closely resemble that of the C-XF concept car . In addition, there were standard LED daytime running lights in the form of a lying J. The air inlets have been made more pointed on the side, the rear lights have been enlarged and the brake light has been redesigned to a horizontal J.

In the interior, the changes were limited. The steering wheel has been made slightly more dynamic and the area around the buttons and controls has been blackened. The buttons in the center console and on the transmission unit were also black.

A new 2.2 liter four-cylinder biturbo diesel was used as the entry-level engine. From this point on, all models with diesel engines were delivered with an 8-speed automatic. A start-stop system also works in the 2.2 D.

The Black and the Aerodynamic Pack were also new . The black pack included a black paint job for all chrome elements on the front of the car and the window frames. There were also black 20 "rims. The aerodynamic pack included a revised front bumper, side skirts, a tailgate spoiler and a black radiator grille.

The starting price for the XF was € 44,900 in 2015.

On November 24th, 2012, a station wagon called Sportbrake was introduced, which was only available in Europe and with three powerful diesel variants. In February 2015, the evaluation organization Schwacke, together with Auto Bild magazine, honored the Jaguar XF 3.0 V6 Diesel S Sportbrake as the value champion. They recognized the highest value retention in the luxury class of 53.5 percent.

In spring 2013, the XFR- S followed as the top model in the series. This had a five-liter V8 engine that had been increased to 405 kW (550 hp).

Production of the sedan ended in spring 2015. The Sportbrake was built until the end of 2015.
