The Peugeot 607 is a passenger car model by the French car manufacturer Peugeot , which was produced from February 2000 to September 2010. The upper middle class vehicle and flagship of the company replaced the Peugeot 605 .

Introduction and development

The Peugeot 607 was presented in October 1999 at the IAA in Frankfurt. The number “6” in the series refers to the new inline six-cylinder engine with 2.2 liters and 44 kW (60 hp) that powered the 601 when the Peugeot 601 was presented in 1934 . Since then, this name has been retained for the large Peugeot sedans. The 607 was built in the main plant in Sochaux .

In November 2004, Peugeot made a subtle facelift . The revised models have round fog lights in the front apron .

Technical specifications

The 607 is front-wheel drive , its turning circle is 12 meters, the fuel tank holds 80 liters. The range comprised petrol engines with a displacement of 2.2 or 3.0 liters and diesel engines with a displacement of 2.0, 2.2 or 2.7 liters. At the time of their introduction, the 607s equipped with diesel engines were the only new vehicles in the world with a factory-installed soot particle filter . From November 2004 the diesel engine with 2.7 liter displacement and six cylinders was offered. In 2008 the 2.2-liter engine was discontinued. From February 2009 the 607 was only available with the 2.7-liter V6 HDi engine.

Others

Alongside the Citroën C6, the 607 was the official car of French Presidents Jacques Chirac and Nicolas Sarkozy .

On April 22, 2002, the racing driver Philippe Couesnon set a world record in a slightly modified Peugeot 607 HDi : he had covered 500,000 kilometers in 4888 hours.

The 607 Pescarolo is a concept car presented at the Paris Motor Show 2002 with a slightly different design. The 294 kW (400 hp) six-cylinder engine was driven by the Pescarolo Sport team (founded by Henri Pescarolo ) in the French touring car championship. The vehicle, which has been lowered by 25 mm, has an enlarged air inlet in the front apron, widened fenders and two separate exhaust pipes. The 2.35 ton 607 Pescarolo has tires with 245 / 45R19 on 19 ″ alloy wheels and accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.0 seconds. Its top speed is 290 km / h.

successor

Production of the 607 ended in September 2010. The Peugeot 908 RC study was temporarily used as a preview of a successor model . Ultimately, the 508 , which appeared in spring 2011, initially assumed the role of the top model in the Peugeot range. Therefore, this mid-range vehicle turned out to be a little larger than the previous model 407 .

October 2014 was at the Paris Motor Show , the concept car Peugeot Exalt presented which, according to Le Figaro as "taste" to a new Peugeot 608 applies. Market observers expected the 608 to be introduced in 2017.
