The Peugeot 308 II is a passenger car model of the compact class of Peugeot , which at the International Motor Show 2013 in Frankfurt was presented and has come to the market on September 21, 2013. The 308 is produced at the Peugeot Sochaux plant. The 308 for the Asian markets is manufactured at the Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroën plant in Wuhan . In addition to the hatchback model, the 308 is also built there as a sedan . With the DS 4S , DS Automobiles also offers a model based on the 308 exclusively in China.

Naming

After the Peugeot 301 (2012) , this is the second Peugeot to reuse a number and the first to have the same name as its predecessor. This follows the new nomenclature , in which the standard models only end with "1" or "8".

body

The 308 II was presented as a five-door compact car in September 2013. There is no longer a three-door variant like the Peugeot 308 I. The design comes from the German designer Thomas Röhm.

The combination version 308 SW has been available since May 2014. The SW is 33 cm longer (4.58 m instead of 4.25 m) and 125 kg heavier (1,405 instead of 1,280 kg) than the compact car.

In China, the 308 has also been sold as a sedan since October 2016. With a length of 4.59 m, the sedan is roughly as long as the station wagon version.

Facelift 2017

A facelift followed in 2017; u. a. the daytime running lights are now always LED technology, with the diesel variants AdBlue can be refilled next to the filler neck. An eight-speed automatic transmission developed with the Japanese company Aisin is available for more powerful diesels . The 1.5 liter turbo diesel engine with 96 kW / 130 PS is a new development: details here .

The Peugeot 308 CC is based on the Peugeot 308 I. In March 2015, production of the 308 CC was stopped.

Furnishing

The 308's steering wheel is relatively small in diameter and mounted low enough that the dashboard instruments are above the steering wheel. Peugeot calls this concept the i-cockpit .

The 308 is offered in three equipment lines: Access , Active and Allure . The basic Access equipment includes a. ABS, ASR , ESP, a cruise control, six airbags, an audio system and a manually operated air conditioning system. In addition, the Active and Allure lines have a leather steering wheel and a 9.7-inch monitor with resistive touchscreen . You can use the monitor to a. the on-board computer, the audio system and the two-zone automatic air conditioning can be operated. The 308 GT with powerful engines has also been on the market since March 2015 . In addition, the Style special models are often offered in different versions. The equipment of these special models is based on the equipment line Active and adds further components and optional packages.

The trunk of the compact car has a volume of 470 liters (385 liters with the spare wheel), and 1228 liters with the rear seat bench folded down. The SW has a trunk volume of 610 liters. The rear seat backs of the SW can be folded down in such a way that a flat loading surface is created, with the rear seat surfaces lowering. The SW then has a trunk volume of 1660 liters.

technology

The Peugeot 308 is based on the EMP2 platform from PSA and is expected to save approx. 140 kg compared to its predecessor.

PureTech gasoline engines

The crankcase is cast from an aluminum alloy using the "lost shape" technique. The integration of the exhaust manifold, cooling water thermostat housing and engine mount results in a lighter and stiffer housing with fewer individual parts. It is an "open deck" construction. The cylinders have liners. The typical rolling moment of the three-cylinder in opposite directions through an integrated into the crankcase with the crankshaft rotating balance shaft repaid. The two camshafts are phase adjustable ("VVT"). As with the 1.0 Ecoboost engine from Ford, the timing belt runs in an oil bath, which means less internal friction. The piston pins, piston rings and valve lifters have diamond-like carbon ("DLC") coatings .

From 110 HP (81 kW) fuel atomization is as complete as possible through high-pressure direct injection with an injection pressure of up to 200 bar. A high exhaust gas recirculation rate contributes to a low-pollutant raw exhaust gas.

The oil pump and coolant circuit are demand-controlled. The cylinder head and block are cooled with separate circuits (so-called “split cooling”), which enables faster warm-up.

For the service life of the engine, Peugeot mentions 240,000 km or 15 years.

The Puretech engine has won the Engine of the Year title several times .

The 82 hp version has no turbocharger .

Changes in 2017

Petrol engines: The 1.2 PureTech with 82 PS is no longer available. The 1.2 PureTech with 110 PS and the 1.2 PureTech with 130 PS are now equipped with a gasoline particle filter. Furthermore, the 1.2 PureTech with 110 hp is now being delivered with a manual six-speed gearbox.

Diesel engines: The 1.6 BlueHDi 100 was replaced by the 1.5 BlueHDi 100; The 1.6 BlueHDi 120 has been replaced by the newly developed 1.5 BlueHDi 130 (new heat exchangers and pistons, the geometry of which is derived from the LeMans Auto 908 , new emission control system).
