history

Peugeot D4

The roots of the Peugeot D3 lie in the T60 delivery van types developed by Chenard & Walcker as early as the late 1930s and their successors, the CHE, CH65 and 66B, with different engines. The company Chausson , since 1936 Partner of Chenard & Walker, designed a modernized body.

The original version had a water-cooled engine with a capacity of 1021 cm³ and 19 kW (26 hp), as well as a maximum payload of 1500 kg. The curb weight is given as 1400 kg. In 1947 a more powerful engine from the Peugeot 202 with 1133 cm³ displacement and 22 kW (30 hp) power was added, which required a front with an adapted radiator grille . A year later, the 1290 cm³ engine from the Peugeot 203 was installed, which made two horsepower more than the one from the 202.

In 1950 Peugeot took over Chenard & Walker and replaced the previously produced Peugeot Q3A with the delivery van now renamed as Peugeot D3A .

It was not until 1952 that an engine with 29 kW (40 hp) was introduced. At this step the model name was changed to Peugeot D3B . In 1955 the D3B was then replaced by the second generation of the model, the Peugeot D4 , which was manufactured until 1965 and offered with 45 and 50 hp engines. From 1959 the D4 was also available with a diesel engine.
