The partner was manufactured as a high-roof station wagon or panel van and is identical to the Citroën Berlingo . There are differences between the two vehicles in terms of the design of the upholstery and the selection and combination options for the optional equipment. The new model won the 1997 Van of the Year title together with the Citroën Berlingo . In Italy the Peugeot Partner was sold under the name Peugeot Ranch .

In-line four-cylinder engines with 44 to 80 kW (petrol) or 50 to 66 kW (diesel) are available as engines. The trunk is extremely generous with 624 liters.

At the beginning of 2003, the partner received a facelift , which gave him a modified front with different headlights. At the same time, Peugeot introduced the moderate off-road version Escapade , which was higher than the standard version and received underride protection for the engine and drive shafts as well as protective grids in front of the headlights. The Grande Escapade version also featured an automatic limited slip differential (75%).

By 2008, 570,000 units had been sold across Europe, making the partner the most popular vehicle in its class. After the successor Partner Tepee appeared , it was sold under the name Partner Origin .

The production of the partner Origin came to an end at the end of 2009, while that of the Escapade ended in spring 2008.

Partner Electric

Peugeot equipped numerous vehicles with electric drives in the 1990s. They were driven by direct current motors and wet nickel-cadmium batteries from the Saft company were used as traction batteries .

In 2010, the Venturi company won a tender from the French Post Office to purchase electric vans. Venturi installs an asynchronous motor with 42 kW (57 PS) and 180 Newton meters, as well as the ZEBRA accumulator in the Peugeot Partner and Citroën Berlingo .

The second generation of the Partner came onto the German market on May 5, 2008 under the name Tepee ( Tipi ). The unpainted bumpers, which are intended to give it the appearance of an SUV, are particularly striking on the vehicle . Like its predecessor, the partner Tepee was built in Vigo ( Galicia ), Spain .

This new partner Tepee is based on the platform of the Citroën C4 and the Peugeot 308 , just like the identical Citroën Berlingo II. It was available both as a high-roof combination in one length and as a panel van in two length formats. The wheelbase is the same for both models.

A choice of six engines was available for the high-roof station wagon, three of which were gasoline engines, each with a displacement of 1.6 liters and 66 kW (90 PS), 80 kW (109 PS) or 88 kW (120 PS). In addition, three diesel engines with a displacement of 1.6 liters were offered, of which the two more powerful are equipped with a soot particle filter (FAP) ex works . With the help of various engine controls, these generate outputs of 55 kW (75 PS), 66 kW (90 PS) and 80 kW (109 PS).

For the panel van version, the 1.6-liter gasoline engine with 66 kW (90 hp) and two four-cylinder diesel engines with 1.6 liter displacement and without a soot particle filter were offered. They produce 55 kW (75 PS) or 66 kW (90 PS). Since 2011, the 1.6-liter diesel engines have also been offered as e-HDi models with a start & stop function and soot particle filter.

The trunk of the high box model holds 505 liters in the normal seating configuration. By folding down the second row of seats, the volume can be expanded to up to 3000 liters. The cargo space of the van is 3300 liters.

In April 2012 the partner was changed slightly, both technically and externally. The headlights are now slightly rounded and the logo is attached to the bonnet. In the higher equipment variants, LED daytime running lights are installed below the headlights. In the panel van version, the 1.6-liter diesel engine with 80 kW known from the Tepee was available.

In September 2014, the partner was supplemented by an electric version, which was only available for delivery vans.

In 2015 the partner received a second facelift; the front design was adapted to the current Peugeot design language. In addition, a multimedia system with a 7-inch touchscreen, a city emergency brake assistant, reversing camera and front parking sensors were introduced as additional options. The engines have been adapted to the Euro 6 emissions standard.
