The company is considered a world leader in the field of nickel-cadmium batteries (NiCd) for industrial use. They are produced as large-format wet cells with liquid electrolyte in various sizes. Saft also offers batteries that are suitable for use in all-electric vehicles. For example , the electric scooter Scoot'elec by Peugeot , which was built until 2005, ran with three NiCd batteries of the type STM 5-100 MR. NiCd batteries are today (as of Nov. 2016) almost only offered for railway technology, u. a. for trolleybuses, which use them to bridge overhead lines and network failures.

In Germany, the companies Friemann & Wolf Batterietechnik GmbH and Tadiran Batteries GmbH belong to the Saft Group. Both are based in Büdingen and manufacture primary lithium batteries ( lithium manganese dioxide batteries and lithium thionyl chloride batteries ). The German SAFT branch is in Nuremberg.

sales

According to its own information, the company had sales of around € 600 million in 2007. Of this, 47% were industrial batteries, 39% lithium and silver batteries and 14% accumulators.
