Bagnolet is a French city with 35,674 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Seine-Saint-Denis department . It borders the capital Paris to the east .
Its inhabitants call themselves Bagnoletais .
history
The place was first mentioned in 1255 as "Balneolum" ( Latin for 'small bath house').
On January 1, 1860, the city of Paris was expanded by annexing the neighboring communities. Part of the municipality of Bagnolet was incorporated into Paris. At the same time, the Charonne commune was dissolved and divided between Paris, Bagnolet and Montreuil . Bagnolet received a small part of the Charonne area.

As a border town to Paris, Bagnolet is connected to the Boulevard périphérique . The A3 autoroute branches off from the Périphérique here and cuts through Bagnolet. The city is also connected to the Paris metro network through the Gallieni station . The Paris-Gallieni bus station is in the commune of Bagnolet.
