Alexis Manenti (born February 12, 1982 in Bagnolet ) is a French film actor and screenwriter .

Life

Manenti was born in Bagnolet and grew up with his younger brother in Paris . His mother comes from Rijeka ( Croatia ) and grew up in Belgrade , his father († 1998) came from Cargèse ; both parents were psychologists and psychoanalists, respectively. Manenti's grandmother Josée Manenti and Jean Oury founded the psychiatric Clinique de La Borde in Cour-Cheverny .

As a student, Manenti became a member of the artists' association Kourtrajmé around Romain Gavras , Kim Chapiron and Toumani Sangaré in the late 1990s and played small roles in short films. After finishing school he studied law or history and psychology, but dropped out after a short time and earned his living with smaller jobs. At the same time he worked again with Kourtrajmé in Montfermeil and finally made his actual film debut in 2002 in Gavras' short film Easy Pizza Riderz . In the years that followed , Manenti played the role of the Serbian Dimitriu Bulatovic in numerous short films by Kourtrajmé , so that "Dimitriu" temporarily became a kind of stage name.

In 2009 Manenti attended the theater course of the Laboratoire de l'acteur in Paris with Célia Granier-Deferre . His first feature film was the 2014 thriller Mea Culpa - In the Eye of Crime by Fred Cavayé . Further appearances in film and television followed, including roles in Agatha Christie: Murderous Games and The World is Yours , again directed by Romain Gavras.

In 2017 Manenti wrote the short film Les misérables with Ladj Ly about a police unit in Montfermeil, where Manenti also played the role of the racist police officer Chris. Les misérables received numerous film awards and was nominated for a César as best short film , among other things . Ly and Manenti wrote the script with Giordano Gederlini for the feature film Die Wütenden - Les misérables , which is based on the short film. Again Manenti took over the role of Chris. For his performance he was awarded the César for Best Young Actor in 2020 . He also received a César nomination in the Best Screenplay category and was nominated for two Prix ​​Lumières - for Best Screenplay and Best Newcomer .
