Peugeot showed the first pictures of the production model on February 22, 2018. The hatchback had its public premiere at the 88th Geneva Motor Show in March 2018. The market launch took place in October 2018. The vehicle is built in Mulhouse, France, and Wuhan, China .

Compared to the previous model, the 508 II is eight centimeters shorter and six centimeters flatter. In addition, the car is no more than notchback - sedan , but with a hatchback built and now has frameless side windows. Peugeot, like Opel with the Insignia B or Volkswagen with the Arteon, is following the trend of replacing notchback models with so-called four - door coupés .

Peugeot published the first pictures of the estate version 508 SW on June 6, 2018. The vehicle had its trade fair premiere at the Paris Motor Show in October 2018, and the first models have been delivered since June 2019.

At the Guangzhou Auto Show in November 2018, the Peugeot 508 L, a long version of the sedan, was presented. This has been produced exclusively in Wuhan for the Chinese market since the beginning of 2019.

body

The second generation front headlights of the Peugeot 508 are deeply integrated into the body to avoid damage in the event of a minor accident. For the same reason, the rear lights are placed well above the rear bumper. To save weight, the bonnet and trunk lid are made of aluminum . As with the Peugeot 504, the model designation is attached below the bonnet .

technology

As including the Peugeot 308 II or the Opel Grand country X , the second generation builds the 508 on the EMP2 platform of the PSA on -Konzerns. The 508 II has a multi-link rear axle .

As is now common in other Peugeot models, the 508 II has a small steering wheel so that the instrument cluster is placed above it. The car also has the latest generation of the i-cockpit . Smartphones can also be charged wirelessly using an inductive charging station in a compartment in the center console . There are also two USB ports.
