The Peugeot P4 VLTT is an off-road vehicle of the French Army . Produced by Peugeot , however, it is based on the Mercedes-Benz G-Class . The P4 is a license of the so-called NATO or military version of the Wolf G model . The P4 VLTT lacks almost all the comfort features of a civil off-road vehicle. It is the successor to the Hotchkiss M201 .

In contrast to the vehicles from Graz, engines from this manufacturer and not from Mercedes-Benz are installed in the Peugeot vehicles. A 2.5-liter Peugeot diesel (type XD3 155) with a rated output of 52 kW (70.5 PS) is installed. The top speed is 108 km / h.

The relationship with the G-Class, which allegedly also took over old tools, led to some bizarre details: The glow monitor (filament behind the seven-hole cover, to the right of / under the steering wheel) reminds those who know about the W115 from Mercedes-Benz, which still owns it the P4 has oval recesses in the footwell - allegedly originally planned by Mercedes for loudspeakers in a luxury version of the G model that was never built. In addition, the vehicle has an operating hours counter and an on-board voltage display.

The French armed forces ordered 15,000 vehicles in 1981, but this was then reduced to 13,500. The vehicle has now reached its maximum service life and is gradually being phased out. At the end of 2015, there were still 2500 pieces in stock, which is continuously being reduced.
