The Peugeot 207 is a small car produced by the French vehicle manufacturer Peugeot . The vehicle is the successor to the Peugeot 206 , which is one of the best-selling cars in Europe.

In addition to the two plants in Poissy and Madrid the majority of the production was made in the new plant opened in June 2006 Trnava (Trnava) in Slovakia , where 3,500 people are employed in the final stage. The factory, which was built for 700 million euros, replaced the English Peugeot plant Ryton-on-Dunsmore , which closed in January 2007 , where the 206 has been built with 2,300 employees since mid-1998. The one millionth Peugeot 207 was delivered in April 2008. In Brazil there is a pickup version called the Peugeot 207 Hoggar .

The successor 208 came onto the market in Germany in April 2012.

history

The vehicle was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2006 and was offered by Peugeot dealers in Germany from May 6, 2006. At that time, Peugeot sold most of its vehicles in the small car division and hoped that the new model would be a successful follow-up to the bestseller 206, which was still being produced in parallel with the 207.

The Peugeot 207 was slightly larger than its predecessor: 4.03 m length, 1.72 m width, 1.47 m height, 2.54 m wheelbase. Its progressive design continued the design language of the lion brand with design elements of the concept cars 907 and 20Cup .

Technically, the 207 was based on the same platform as the PSA group brother Citroën C3 . Initially, five different engines were offered - a 1.4-liter petrol engine with 73 hp or 88 hp (this engine was also used in the previous model, the Peugeot 206) and a 1.6-liter petrol engine with 109 hp or as a turbo version with 150 hp. The 1.6 liter HDi with 90 or 109 hp was offered as a diesel engine . All diesel models were supplied with a soot particle filter (FAP, Filtre à particules) as standard . At the beginning of 2007 two new petrol engines were introduced, a 1.4-liter petrol engine with 95 hp and a 1.6-liter petrol engine with 120 hp. They were developed in collaboration with BMW and are characterized by lower fuel consumption. In Germany, five equipment lines were offered from May 2007, the starting price was 12,250 euros. The price for the most powerful 207, the 207 RC , was 20,900 euros in the basic configuration.

From March 2013, the special model " Roland Garros ", limited to 400 units, was offered, which was based on the Allure equipment line and also had seat heating, gray-beige leather covers with the "RG" logo, cornering lights, parking sensors, tire pressure monitoring, Bluetooth audio streaming and a hands-free system .

Model variants

The 207 was delivered with two different front sections, depending on the equipment line, which Peugeot called the “classic” or “sporty” version.

The Coupé-Cabriolet 206 CC was replaced by the 207 CC in April 2007 . The 207 RC , available from May 2007, was delivered with a 1.6-liter turbo engine with 175 hp, which came from a cooperation with BMW. In the late summer of 2007 the 207 SW with a glass roof came onto the market.

Facelift

At the end of June 2009 the series received a facelift that included modified headlights , rear lights and sills or aprons all around.

After the successor 208 appeared as a hatchback in April 2012, the 207 was still offered as a three- and five-door model until June 2012 with a limited variety of equipment. The combined SW was until June 2013 as a special model Forever available, then by the Peugeot 2008 I to be replaced. The 207 Cabriolet was in the program until May 2015.

In China , the 207 was also offered as a notchback . Iran Khodro produces Peugeot 207i. The 207i is identical to the Peugeot 206 +.

Peugeot 207 in rally sport

The Peugeot 207 Super 2000 is a Peugeot customer vehicle that is produced in accordance with the FIA's Super 2000 regulations for the Intercontinental Rally Challenge . The body, which is additionally reinforced with a safety cell made of steel tubes in the passenger compartment, is based on the 207 from series production , which Peugeot Sport has, however, heavily modified. These vehicles are equipped with a safety package consisting of special seats, belts, fuel tank, emergency stop switch (inside / outside), fire extinguishing system, etc.

The racing car must comply with the FIA regulations for group A and be equipped with an additional Super 2000 kit . Electronic driving aids such as ABS and ESP are not permitted. The Super 2000 is powered by a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated engine with 206 kW (280 hp) at 8250 rpm. The maximum torque is 250 Nm and 6000 rpm, which is not very much compared to a World Rally Car of the generation up to 2010, with over 700 Nm. In terms of costs, the speed limit of the engines homologated according to the FIA regulations is 8500 rpm. Furthermore, you have to shift sequentially using a gear lever and not, as was previously the case in the WRC, using electronic-hydraulic paddles.

The Peugeot 207 Super 2000 has all-wheel drive , which is implemented according to FIA regulations with mechanical differentials . The Super 2000 uses shock absorbers developed and built by Peugeot , which prevent the rear end from swinging as much as possible. The steering is servo- assisted, the brake has to do without this assistance and therefore requires high pedal force for optimal braking performance. The Super 2000 is described as a safe and easy-to-drive vehicle because of its direct steering and 18-inch wheels with BF Goodrich racing tires. The vehicle costs 168,000 euros, which is the maximum permissible price set by the FIA for Super 2000 vehicles.
