The Jaguar X350 is a luxury sedan of the XJ series of the British car manufacturer Jaguar , which was produced from spring 2003 to autumn 2009.
General
With the X350 (internal factory name) Jaguar launched the third completely new design of the XJ series in March 2003.
A special feature is the aluminum construction of the self-supporting body, which almost completely dispenses with the extruded profiles found by other manufacturers. As a result, the body is heavier than when using extruded profiles because of the higher amount of material required, but the manufacturing processes remain simpler and repairs to the body are less complex. The body panels are connected with rivets, as is the case with aircraft. Self-piercing rivets are used that do not require any existing holes in the sheets to be connected. A special adhesive is applied to the contact surfaces for additional stiffening. The curb weight of the basic model is comparatively low at 1608 to 1728 kg. Thyssen-Krupp Automotive is providing the air suspension that is common for vehicles in this class .
In autumn 2004, a version with a long wheelbase came on the market, propagated with the help of the Concept 8 prototype .
Engines
Five engines were available for the X350. A six-speed automatic transmission from the manufacturer ZF takes care of the power transmission to the rear wheels . The top engine was the 4.2-liter V8 with supercharging.
In autumn 2004, a 2.7-liter V6 biturbo diesel engine, developed in cooperation with PSA Peugeot Citroën and built by Ford in Dagenham, was added to the engine range as an entry-level engine. This was the first time a Jaguar XJ was equipped with a diesel engine.

Facelift
In autumn 2006 the XJ was revised. This included optical retouching and changes to the interior.
Externally, the front, in particular, has changed, with a sportier bumper, a grille with wire mesh, new fog lights and now three air inlets instead of the previous two.
The rear bumper has also been modified. In addition to a chrome trim strip at the rear that stretches across the entire width of the vehicle, the modified exhaust trims are also noticeable. Inside, the classic design was largely retained, although the equipment was supplemented by a Bluetooth interface for up to five cell phones and seat ventilation. The official presentation took place at the Geneva Motor Show .
Production of the XJ was completed in November 2009. A total of 83,556 units of the X350 were produced.
XJ Sovereign
Jaguar also offered the X350 as a special protection vehicle under the name XJ Sovereign . It is the British automaker's first armored sedan. This is only available in the long wheelbase version with a V8 engine.
Furnishing
Externally, the XJ Sovereign does not differ from the production model. But there are fundamental differences in terms of equipment. The vehicle is available in resistance classes B5 and B6 with bulletproof laminated glass panes, underbody armor and emergency tires. The safety equipment also includes a tamper-proof exhaust, an intercom, a self-sealing fuel tank, an independent oxygen supply for the cabin and a titanium-armored roof.
Due to the extra weight due to the armor, a special chassis and passive suspension are installed. A more heavily designed brake system also increases the deceleration performance. However, according to Jaguar, the vehicle is lighter than its competitors.
Daimler Super Eight
Jaguar traditionally offered its top model under the Daimler brand until the end of 2009 . The Daimler Super Eight introduced in 2006 was based on the Jaguar XJR, but in the long version and ended this tradition. The car can be recognized by the fluted radiator and other minor changes. The interior has been upgraded compared to the Jaguar model.
The Queen of England and the Prime Minister of Great Britain used this vehicle. The total production number was 853 units. The selling price was 112,500 euros.
