Rear end (420G)

The Jaguar Mark X (from 1966: 420 G ) is a four-door luxury sedan that Jaguar launched in autumn 1961 as the successor to the Jaguar Mark IX .

The Jaguar Mark X had the six-cylinder in-line engine of the E-Type with 3781 cc and 198 kW (265 bhp). This drove the rear wheels via a four-speed gearbox with center shift and helped the sedan to a top speed of 198 km / h. Optionally, an overdrive or a three-speed automatic transmission was also available. The self-supporting body had been completely redesigned so that the car appeared flatter and more elongated. The front was provided with double headlights, the radiator grille tilted sharply forward. 12,961 copies were made by 1964.

In the autumn of 1964, the Mark X received an engine that was enlarged to 4235 cm³, parallel to the E-Type, which offered higher torque with the same rated output.

In 1966, the model was 420 G renamed. After the successor model XJ6 , offered from 1968 , was produced in higher numbers from 1970, production of the 420G was discontinued that year.

The Daimler DS420 chauffeur limousine, which is based on the technology of the 420 G, was built from 1968 to 1992.
