Jaguar Mark 1 is an unofficial name given to the two Jaguar models Jaguar 2.4 Liter and Jaguar 3.4 Liter after the appearance of the successor Jaguar Mark 2 .

The Jaguar 2.4 liter was the first model of the Jaguar brand with a self-supporting body and was introduced in 1955. It had the six-cylinder in-line engine of the Jaguar Mark VII and the Jaguar XK 140 , but with a shortened stroke and a displacement of 2483 cm³. He developed 112 bhp and gave the car a top speed of 160 km / h. The rear wheels were driven by a four-speed gearbox with center shift. From 1956 an overdrive was available on request . From the end of 1957, disc brakes were optionally available on all four wheels instead of drum brakes . The body was designed by Sir William Lyons and statically constructed by the Pressed Steel Company , which also manufactured it ready for painting.

In March 1957, the Jaguar 3.4 liter came into the program, especially at the American request, with an unchanged 3.4 liter engine, familiar from other Jaguar models (six-cylinder in-line engine with 3442 cc and 210 bhp). Its top speed was over 190 km / h. A three-speed automatic transmission from Borg-Warner was available for both models from autumn 1957 .

By 1959, 19,891 copies of the 2.4 liter and 17,404 copies of the 3.4 liter were made. The successor to the model was the Jaguar Mark 2 .
