Voodoo (car brand)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Voodoo was a British automobile brand built by Normandale Products in Long Itchington, Warwickshire from 1971 to 1973 .

The Voodoo was based on the Hillman Imp , whose four-cylinder in-line engine with 875 cm³ he had also installed in the rear. An extremely low and long GRP body was built on the chassis , which had been designed by the former Chrysler stylists Geoff Neale and John Arnold . While the pop-up headlights and the dome-like windshield defined the front view, the rear of the car resembled a mid-engine sports car like a Ferrari . The entire glass dome and the steering wheel could be folded down to allow entry into the vehicle, which is only 889 mm high. Parts of the chassis and the disc brakes came from the Vauxhall Viva HA , the tank from the Ford Anglia .

In 1971 the car was presented at the Earl's Court Motor Show ; In 1973 he was on the Olympia Racing Car Show . Only two copies were built, a third started. After the tragic death of Arnold, the activities ceased. In 1981 attempts were made to revive the project, but to no avail.
