Rat was a British car brand.

Brand history

Robert Taylor, Anthony Hill and Trevor Pym founded the Fiber-Fab company in Crowthorne in 1970 and began manufacturing automobiles. The brand name was Rat , after the initials of their first names. Taylor and Pym left in 1972. Hill emigrated to Australia in 1981 . FF Kit Cars & Conversions , led by Tim Cooksey, continued production until 1985. Between 1987 and 1992, Country Volks of Basingstoke, under the direction of Stephen Wilson, used the brand name. A total of about 420 copies were made.

It was exported to the Canary Islands , Spain , the Middle East , Germany , Rhodesia , Mozambique , Denmark , Israel , South Africa and the USA .

vehicles

Only one model was on offer. This was a VW buggy . It was similar to the GP buggy , but with a separate front with low-lying headlights. The chassis of the VW Beetle formed the basis . At first only one version for a shortened chassis was available. In 1974 a longer version for an uncut chassis was added to the range. In 1979 new shapes were necessary for the short version because the old shapes were worn out.
