JJ Calver Industrial Engineers is a British company and former automobile manufacturer.

Company history

The company was founded in Langley Moor , County Durham in 1988 . In the same year, the production of automobiles and kits began under the direction of Jeff Calver . The brand name was Skip , possibly also Leyland Skip . Vehicle production ended in 1991. A total of about six vehicles were built.

The company is still active in the pneumatics sector today.

Vehicle models

The only model was the 1000 . This was a tricycle with a rear single wheel. It was designed for use in trials , but was still street legal. The basis was a spaceframe with a rear subframe. An open body made of fiberglass was mounted on top. Many parts, including the four-cylinder engine , came from the Mini .

Individual vehicles

The author Steve Hole shows in his book A-Z of kit cars a photo with two vehicles: a red car with British license plate AHL 358 K and another with no apparent color with the label RCA 314 P . The photo can also be viewed online. For the first-mentioned vehicle, the data of the donor vehicle is stored at the online license plate service ukvehicle.com .

The second vehicle is considered a Leyland Skip there. A vehicle in yellow and black, whose recognizable fragments of the license plates CA and P correspond to this vehicle, still exists in the possession of a collector.

On the grounds of the Whitewebbs Museum of Transport in the London Borough of Enfield , England, there was a green vehicle with the registration number SDC 322 M in June 2015 , which ukvehicle.com has also saved under the data of the donor vehicle.

The Allcarindex website shows another green vehicle that differs in details from the green vehicle mentioned above. The largely covered license plate begins with F, P or R.
