Frogeye Car Company Limited was a British manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Keith Brading founded the company in 1985 in Ryde , Isle of Wight . He started producing automobiles and kits . The brand name was Frogeye . Island Plastics from the same island manufactured the bodies. Production ended in 2000. Another source gives the production period from 1986 to around 1996. According to the website opencorporates.com, the company was only founded on February 27, 1986, led by Keith Clark Brading and Peter Louis Cove, who moved the company headquarters to Bradford , West Yorkshire on August 12, 1999 and on March 22, during the ongoing bankruptcy 2001 saw the dissolution of the company. A total of about 142 copies were made.

Island Plastics continued production of a model from 1997 to 1998 and marketed it as Ipi .

Only one model was on offer. The Supersprite was a replica of the first generation Austin-Healey Sprite . The base formed a self-made chassis of steel . A fiberglass body was mounted on top. The roadster offered space for two people. Various four-cylinder engines from the Austin A 30 , Austin A 35 , Austin Maestro , Ford Fiesta and Mini Metro and from Rover powered the vehicles.

The new price for a complete vehicle was around £ 18,000 in the late 1980s .
