The Austin A35 was a small car produced by the Austin Motor Company . It was developed on the basis of the Austin A30 and launched in 1956.

The self-supporting bodies of the 2-door and 4-door saloon (sedan) and the 3-door van (station wagon) essentially corresponded to the previous model. A 2-door pickup was also offered later. The differences to the A30 model were a larger rear window, a flashing system instead of the indicators and a larger motor. Its displacement was 948 cm³, its output 34 bhp (25 kW). The sedan reached 117 km / h.

In order to provide small business people with a tax-efficient vehicle, the idea of offering a small pickup came up. In addition, the vehicle tax should no longer be based on the engine size, but on the payload. As soon as the model was on the market, it turned out that the British tax authorities only recognized this tax break if at least 2/3 of the vehicle length was available as loading space. Since this was not the case, the usual tax had to be paid for the new “savings model”. As a result, the pickup, which is impractical due to its short loading area, was as good as unsaleable. The few copies produced were delivered to the Austin agencies as demonstration vehicles and mostly ended up as workshop vehicles. Today this model is particularly sought after by collectors.

In 1962 production of the Austin A35 sedans ceased. The successor was the Austin A40 Farina. The station wagon continued to be built until 1968, towards the end with a further enlarged engine of the successor (1098 cm³, 48 bhp / 35 kW).
