Previously had Herbert Austin already cars for Wolseley Motor and Tool Company constructed and took over the ideas for his first car, which still under his full name Herbert Austin was marketed.

Only the second model from that year, the 25/30 hp , was the first to carry the Austin name.

Another car with the designation 15/20 hp appeared in 1913. Its side-controlled four-cylinder engine was created by combining the cylinders of the Austin 15 with a bore diameter of 89 mm and the crankshaft of the large Austin with a stroke of 127 mm. This resulted in a displacement of 3,161 cm³. This engine developed a maximum output of 28 bhp (20.6 kW).

The four-seater touring car was available in two different wheelbases and represented the middle class in the Austin model range. With the beginning of the First World War in 1914, production ended without a successor.
