history

LTI Fairway, Austin FX4 and FX3

The company began producing the LTI fairway in 1989 . Revised versions appeared in 1992 (Fairway Driver), 1993 (Fairway Driver-Plus) and 1994 (Fairway 95). The model was previously manufactured by Carbodies as the FX4 . Its predecessor, the FX3, was first developed in 1948 as a joint project by Austin and Carbodies Ltd.

TX1

The fairway was replaced by the TX1 in 1997. The 2.7 liter diesel engine from Nissan was used , which had been used in the previous model FX4 since 1989. The LTI models have been wheelchair accessible since the TX1. For this purpose, there is a ramp in the trunk in front of the spare wheel.

TXII

The TXII followed in 2002. The TXII is powered by a 2.4 liter diesel engine, the Ford Duratorq engine.

TX4

The TX4 is powered by a 2.5-liter R-425-DOHC diesel engine from the Italian manufacturer VM Motori , which complies with the Euro V emission standard, later a VM Motori 2.8-liter diesel engine with Euro VI.

TX5

The TX5 from the end of 2017 / beginning of 2018 has a plug-in hybrid drive train that Geely adapts from the Volvo T6 twin engine (electric motor 110 kW on a battery of 31 kWh plus 1.5 R3 petrol engine 82 PS as a range extender with 36 liters of petrol in the tank) and a lightweight architecture made of aluminum. The electric range is 80 miles / 128 km. London Taxi Company opened a new plant in Ansty (Warwickshire) in 2017 .
