The Morris J-Type (English Morris J-Type ) is a pickup truck produced from 1949 to 1960 by Morris Commercial, a subsidiary of the Morris Motor Company and successor to the Morris P-Type . After the companies Morris and Austin were combined to form British Motor Corporation (BMC), it was also produced as Austin 101 Mark from 1957 .
Furnishing
With the small van with two sliding doors, Morris followed the trend of placing the cabin in front of the front axle during transport . The engine was placed between the driver and front passenger seats to create a level floor. The chassis could be used for various bodies such as flatbed trucks , ice cream and milk delivery trucks; even a dump truck was built.
Initially as a sample, box vans were made for the Post Office UK, which, unlike the other models, had rubber bumpers . Later these were an integral part of the program.
The drive was taken over by a 1476 cc four-cylinder engine from the Morris Oxford with 41 hp (30.2 kW) and a 3-speed manual transmission.
Morris JB-Type / Austin 101 Mark 1957-1960
After the introduction of the more modern Morris J2 in 1956, the J-Type was updated in 1957. The BMC-B-series engine used in the J2 now came with a 1489 cm³ displacement, 56 HP (41 kW) output, hanging valves and 4-speed manual transmission for use. It has now also been sold as the Austin Motor Company 101 marks through badge engineering . Production ended in 1960 with the introduction of the successor model Morris J4 , after more than 48,600 copies had been built.
