The Austin 40 hp was a luxury class passenger car manufactured by the Austin Motor Company from 1908 to 1913.

The first Austin 40 hp had a side-controlled four-cylinder in-line engine with 121 mm bore diameter and 127 mm stroke, which resulted in a displacement of 5843 cc. There were two chassis with different wheelbases to choose from.
The car was built in these two versions until the end of 1911.

The successor appeared in 1912. Its also side-controlled four-cylinder engine had cylinders bored out to 125 mm and the crankshaft of the large Austin models had a 127 mm stroke. This resulted in a displacement of 6236 cm³.
This touring car represented the luxury class in the Austin model range. In 1914 the 40 hp was dropped without replacement.
