The Austin 8 was a small car that Austin Motor Cie. Released in 1939 as the successor to the Austin Big 7 .
Like its predecessor, it had a 4-cylinder engine with a displacement of 900 cm³, but only 24 bhp (17.6 kW) instead of the 25 bhp (18.4 kW) of its predecessor. The two-door body with free-standing fenders and headlights was also adopted. In 1947, production of the model ceased. Austin only offered a real small car four years later with the A30 model .
