The Austin Loadstar or Austin K2 Series II was a truck that the British Austin Motor Company produced from 1949. It was the first new truck design from Austin after the Second World War and at the same time the last independent one. The Loadstar was a revised version of the Austin K2 and was offered in Great Britain , Australia , New Zealand and Scandinavia , partly again as the Austin K2 for the 2-ton and as the Austin K4 for the 5-ton payload variant. The Loadstar was powered by a six-cylinder petrol engine from Austin, which produced an output of 125 hp (92 kW) from a displacement of 3995 cm³. Two different wheelbases with 2.9 and 4.0 meters were available. In the early 1950s, economic difficulties forced Austin and the Morris Motor Company to merge to form the British Motor Corporation . As a result, the Loadstar was replaced in 1956 by the Austin S201 / 401/501 , which was also offered as a Morris WF by means of badge engineering .

K9

There was also a military all-wheel drive version called the Austin K9 . There were different structures for this, such as ambulances , water tankers, ambulances and radio vehicles. The military version often had a round hatch in the roof of the driver's cab, which was used for arming or for observation.
