The Morris J2 was presented in 1956. The van was larger and more modern than the Morris J-Type and had a B-series gasoline engine with 1489 cc. Like the J-Type, the engine was placed between the driver and front passenger seats. The J2 should complement the commercial vehicle range upwards. After the Morris and Austin companies were merged to form the British Motor Corporation , the model was also marketed as the Austin J2 using badge engineering .
In 1961 it was revised, the engine was enlarged to 1622 cm³ and a diesel engine with 1500 cm³ was optionally available. The Austin model was now marketed as the Austin 152 . Production ended in 1967 and the Morris 250 JU was introduced as the successor .
