In 1948, Morris introduced a new forward control series with a payload of five tons. The FV had a simple cabin with rear-hinged doors. The design largely resembled that of pre-war vehicles, although development did not begin until after the end of World War II . In addition to the flatbed truck , box vans , tractor units and chassis for special bodies were also offered. A fire engine on the chassis of the FV was available from the factory. The vehicle was powered by a 4.3-liter six-cylinder diesel engine , which was produced under license from Adolph Saurer AG . Alternatively, the FV was also offered with a Morris four-cylinder gasoline engine with 59 kW (80 PS). A six-cylinder petrol engine with 74 kW (100 hp) was also available from 1953. After the merger of Morris and Austin to form British Motor Corporation , the cabin was redesigned for model year 1954. Now the FV was also marketed as Austin. The technically identical vehicles could be distinguished by the radiator grille, which was heart-shaped on the Morris. In 1954 the vehicle was revised, the doors were now hinged at the front. This series was a series II referred that to 1954 vehicles produced the original version received the designation series I .

As the successor to the Austin Loadstar, a variant with a payload of seven tons completed the range. This type was only sold under the name BMC FE through the dealer networks of Morris and Austin. From 1956, the addition Commercial , which denoted vehicles from the commercial vehicle division of Morris, was dropped on all Morris models .
