The C8 was the most successful vehicle that Morris Commercial Cars Ltd designed for the British Army. The vehicle was called "Quad" (short for square). It was relatively small and unarmoured and was technically based on the Morris CVF . The quad was used to pull the 18 and 25 pounder guns . The C8 offered enough space for the entire gun crew and at the same time provided enough storage space for ammunition. A 4 ton winch was also available.

The vehicles were used on all fronts of World War II as well as in the Korean War. Over 10,000 vehicles were produced, mainly at Morris Commercial Cars Ltd, Karrier and General Motors Canada . Production was not stopped until 1945.
