Tetrarch (tank)
The Tetrarch (officially Light Tank Mk VII , spec number A17 ) was a World War II British light tank .
Originally called Purdah , it was produced from 1940. Its armor soon proved to be too weak and so initially only 177 pieces were produced, 20 of which were delivered to the Soviet Union . When the Hamilcar cargo ship entered service in 1943, this tank could be transported with it, and it was renamed the Tetrarch. When landing in Normandy on D-Day , some Tetrarchs were flown into battle. This was the first such tank operation in history.
