Anna Nicole Smith , real life Vickie Lynn Marshall , born Vickie Lynn Hogan (born November 28, 1967 in Houston , Texas , USA ; † February 8, 2007 in Hollywood , Florida , USA), was an American photo and adult model and film actress .

Life

Early years

Vickie Lynn Marshall was the only child of Donald Eugene Hogan (1947-2009) and Virgie Mae Tabers (born July 12, 1951). Her father left the family two years after she was born, and she grew up with her mother and aunt Elaine. In ninth grade, she moved to Mexia , Texas, a small town about 80 miles south of Dallas . When her mother Virgie Tabers married Donald R. Hart, Vickie changed her name to Nikki Hart. In Mexia she only attended tenth grade briefly, which is why she only had an eighth grade degree. She found work at a Jim's Krispy Fried Chicken , where she met Billy Wayne Smith, who worked there as a cook. They married on April 4, 1985, whereupon they had their son Daniel (* January 22, 1986, † September 10, 2006). The marriage lasted only two years.

Nikki Hart moved back to Houston . In 1987 she worked there as a stripper under the pseudonyms Nikki and Robin in a nightclub . Since her early childhood she admired the Hollywood - Diva Marilyn Monroe . So she dressed like her role model. One day she was discovered by a photographer from a modeling agency who had seen photographs of her. She had her breasts enlarged surgically and also took something off to look even more like her idol. In 1992, the men's magazine Playboy Smith invited to a first photo shoot. In May of that year she became a Playmate for the first time . Her breakthrough came a year later when she was voted Playmate of the Year 1993. The president of the brand Guess? , Paul Marciano , saw in her high advertising potential and therefore hired her as a model for Guess? Jeans . In the same year Smith advertised the Swedish textile company Hennes & Mauritz (H&M) and was seen with a lingerie advertisement at bus stops.

Second marriage

On June 27, 1994, she gained worldwide fame through her marriage to 89-year-old billionaire J. Howard Marshall . She herself was 26 years old at the time. A year later, on August 4, 1995, her husband died. Smith was not mentioned in his will, but she demanded half of the estate ($ 1.6 billion) from his son E. Pierce Marshall. After a lawsuit, she was initially awarded $ 450 million in 2000. The verdict was overturned in June 2001 by another judge, and Smith had to pay the costs. In March 2002 she was awarded $ 88 million, but this decision was also reversed in December 2004. E. Pierce Marshall died on June 20, 2006 at the age of 67. His family announced at the time that they would continue the legal battle.

Film actress

In 1994 she made her film debut in the comedy Die Nackte Kanone 33⅓ with Leslie Nielsen and Priscilla Presley . For her participation in this production she was awarded the Golden Raspberry as Worst Newcomer . In the same year she appeared in a supporting role in the film Hudsucker , and a year later she played the leading role in the action film To the Limit . The film was at the box office a flop and was negatively assessed by critics. Two years later, she starred again in an action film, Skyscraper , which is widely considered to be one of the worst films of all time. On August 4, 2002, the first season of the documentary soap The Anna Nicole Show , broadcast by the American television station E! Channel aired and garnered high ratings. The series ran until February 2004. She had a guest appearance in the 2005 film Be Cool , in which she played herself.

family

On September 7, 2006, she gave birth to her second child, daughter Dannielynn Hope, by caesarean section in Nassau, Bahamas . On September 10, 2006, her son Daniel Smith (born January 22, 1986) died during a visit to his mother's hospital room. According to press reports, the family-appointed pathologist Cyril Wecht found during an autopsy that Daniel had taken a mixture of methadone and antidepressants , which led to heart problems and ultimately to his death. In her will, dated July 30, 2001, he is still named as the sole heir. Now the fortune of probably more than 88 million US dollars goes to her daughter Dannielynn. On April 11, 2007, photographer Larry Birkhead was confirmed to be Dannielynn's father through a DNA analysis. He had argued over paternity with Howard K. Stern, Anna Nicole's last partner, as well as Mark Hatten, Anna Nicole's former bodyguard Alexander Denk and Frédéric von Anhalt , husband of Zsa Zsa Gabor .

death

On February 8, 2007, Smith passed away at the age of 39 after a collapse on the way to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood , Florida . She had previously been found unconscious by her personal nurse in her room at the hard rock casino hotel and could not be rescued despite attempts at resuscitation . According to coroner Joshua Perper , the autopsy carried out did not reveal any unusual findings at first, but later examinations revealed, according to the police department responsible for the autopsy, that Smith died of an accidental overdose of various drugs.

The burial took place after repeated disputes between the relatives about the location of the burial site on March 2, 2007 in the Bahamas . As Smith had wished, she was buried next to her son.

Two years after Smith's death, her former partner Howard K. Stern and two other doctors were charged with conspiracy to prescribe and distribute drugs to an addict and illegally prescribing drugs. In October 2010, Smith's personal physician was acquitted, and Howard Stern and Smith's psychiatrist were found guilty by a jury of providing Smith with prescriptions under an assumed name for pain relievers. In January 2011, a judge overturned Stern's guilty verdict because Stern acted without malice. Smith's psychiatrist, also without malice, was sentenced to one year probation and a small fine. She laid appeal against the judgment.
