action

Chili Palmer is back and he's just sick of the movie business. So someone else's misfortune comes in handy. Music producer Tommy Athens, who wanted Chili to make a film about him, is shot dead in front of his eyes by the Russian mafia and leaves his wife Edie with a financially bad label called NTL-Records, which owes $ 300,000 to producer Sin LaSalle . He shows up with his gang of gangster rappers and demands his money. Chili can get a respite. The great hope of NTL-Records rests on Linda Moon, a talented singer, who is unfortunately under contract with the big competitor Nick Carr. There are also her manager Raji and his gay bodyguard Elliot.

Chili forcibly terminates Linda's contract, quickly becomes friends with Elliot and promises to get him an audition for a film. Nick Carr then decides to have Chili liquidated and Raji hires the killer Joe Loop for this purpose. However, he does not shoot Chili, but another killer from the Russian mafia who also wanted to kill him. After all, Chili is a murder witness ... Raji then kills Joe Loop with a baseball bat and Nick Carr picks him up for it. Elliot is mad at Chili for not having an audition for him and tries to finish him off with the same baseball bat, but fails. Chili admonishes him to be patient. He and Edie have since made a guest appearance for Linda Moon on Aerosmith . Nick Carr offers Chili Linda Moon's contract, which he has deposited in a shop of the Russian mafia. He cannot be fooled and gives the police a tip. Meanwhile, at Elliot's insistence, Raji attempts to eliminate Nick Carr and discredits him with Sin LaSalle. He sees through the trick and lets Raji hang out of the window over Nick Carr's office while threatening him. At the same time, some representatives of the Russian mafia turn up who are angry with Nick because instead of Chili the police asked about Linda Moon's contract.

Some Russians are shot dead by Sin LaSalle after insulting him. Nick Carr can convince Sin to let him live and Raji gets away too. Sin now wants his money and shows up at Chili and Edie's. After Chili has played him Linda Moon's songs, he agrees to produce them and to forget the debt. Later, Nick, Raji and Elliot take Edie hostage and force Chili to return the contract that points them to the Russian store. Nick is leaving. When Elliot tries to shoot her, Chili reminds him of the audition and Elliot attacks Raji instead, who deleted Chili's call on the answering machine. When Nick Carr wants to get the contract from the Russians, he instead gets the baseball bat with which Joe Loop was killed and the chili was deposited there. Nick is arrested, Linda succeeds with the help of Chili, Edie, and Sin LaSalle, and Elliot gets a role in a Nicole Kidman movie.

Reviews

"Sequel of the hit film 'Schnappt Shorty' (1995), which functions as an over-the-top number revue of self-parodying stars from the film and music business, but whose gags are neither particularly original nor witty."

James Berardinelli wrote on ReelViews that the film would disappoint fans of the comedy Snatch Shorty . He only praised the "witty" dialogues and some supporting actors, especially Christina Milian, Cedric the Entertainer, Harvey Keitel and The Rock.

Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun-Times on March 4, 2005 that the film was burdened with the usual problems of the sequels and compared the spirit of the film to that of a "bureaucrat". He compared a dance scene with Uma Thurman and John Travolta with the dance scene with the same actors in the film Pulp Fiction , but he described the one in the film Be Cool as "competent" but unemotional.
