description
The trapezoidal body with tail fins corresponded to that of the previous model. The new four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 1622 cm³ developed a maximum of 61 bhp (45 kW). The top speed was 128 km / h. The Morris Oxford was also offered with the same body and technology , so-called badge engineering , in which nothing was changed except for the company logo (badge).
From 1962 the saloon (limousine) was also offered with a diesel engine. The four-cylinder engine had a displacement of 1489 cm³ (like the petrol engine of its predecessor) and delivered an output of 40 bhp (29 kW).
The wheelbase was 2540 mm. The sedan was 4432 mm long, 1613 mm wide and 1490 mm high. The station wagon was a little longer and higher with a length of 4500 mm and height of 1500 mm. The curb weight of the sedan with petrol engine was given as 1130 kg, and that of the station wagon with the same engine as 1180 kg. With a diesel engine they were 30 kg heavier.
In 1969 production was stopped. The successor was the Austin Maxi .
