Vortex Automotive Limited , previously Phantom Automotive Limited , is a British manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Christopher Adrian Greville Smith, David Abel, Graham Winston Astbury and Norman Morris founded on 16 December 1997, the company Phantom Automotive Limited in Coventry in the county of West Midlands . The production of automobiles and kits began. The brand name was initially Phantom . On November 3, 2003 the company moved to Garretts Green ( Birmingham ). Production initially ended in 2005 or 2007.

Virago Cars continued the production of complete vehicles. The time span varies depending on the source from 2005 to 2010 or from 2007 to 2009. These vehicles were marketed as Virago .

On March 29, 2008 the name was changed to Vortex Automotive Limited . On April 15, 2009 the company moved to Kenilworth , Warwickshire . Vehicles have been produced again since 2010 and are now offered as Vortex .

A total of around 30 copies have been made by the three manufacturers together.

Road vehicles

The first model is the GTR . The basis is a spaceframe. A closed two-seater body is mounted on top. Usually a driving V6 engine from Honda or Rover to the vehicles, but other engines are possible. The engine is mounted in a mid-engine design behind the seats.

There are also the models V 2 as an open two-seater and BT 1200 as a coupé with three wheels.
