Sheldonhurst Limited was a British manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Terry Sands, who previously ran Classic Reproductions , and Bill Cook founded the company in Tyseley near Birmingham in 1984 . They started making automobiles and kits . The brand name was Sheldonhurst . In 1985, Sands left the company and founded the Alternative Vehicle Center . Production ended in 1986.

vehicles

Californian and Speedster were replicas of the Porsche 356 . The basis was either the chassis of the VW Beetle with a rear engine or a self-developed chassis for the boxer engine of the Alfa Romeo Alfasud . Production of this model ended in 1985.

Between 1985 and 1986 the company offered the XK 120 . This replica of the Jaguar XK 120 was available based on the Ford Pinto as well as with a ladder frame and many parts from the Jaguar XJ 6 .

The Cobra , a replica of the AC Cobra with the four-cylinder engine from the MG B , was in the range from 1984 to 1986. Brightwheel Replicas continued production under its own brand name.

The Mongoose was also manufactured at Sheldonhurst from 1984 to 1985. It was inspired by a Ford Model T racing car from around 1927. The basis was a Ford Cortina . An open two-seater body was mounted on it.

The Bugatti Type 49 Replica , a replica of a Bugatti Type 49 , which was produced from 1984 to 1986 , remained a one-off .
