Arkley Sportscars , previously Arkley Engineering , is a British manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

John Britten (1931–2009) founded Arkley Engineering (John Britten Garages Ltd) in 1970 . The company's headquarters were on Barnet Road in Arkley in the London Borough of Barnet . The production of automobiles and kit cars began. The brand name is Arkley . In 1987 Arkley Sportscars (Peter May Engineering) from Halesowen took over production. Around 1000 copies were made by 1987, and around 100 since then.

The offer is an open two-seater. The chassis of the MG Midget forms the basis . Usually a four-cylinder , 1275 cc engine powers the vehicle, but any other engine that was available in the Midget or Austin-Healey Sprite is also possible . The S and SS models differ only slightly in the size of the wheel arches.
