Watling Cars Ltd. was a British manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The St Albans company started producing automobiles in 1959. The brand name was Watling . Production ended in 1961. A total of about 70 copies were made. The company also manufactured boats and caravans .

vehicles

The models GT and GT Deluxe were on offer . They looked like a mix of models from TVR , Marcos Cars, and the Jaguar E-Type , the latter not appearing until 1961. The basis was a separate ladder frame, which was available with two different wheelbases. A special feature was the independent suspension. A fiberglass body was mounted on top. On offer were open and closed structures that offered space for two or four people. Four-cylinder engines from Ford of Britain and Morris Motor Company , especially Ford Prefect (E 93 A) , Ford Popular (100 E) , Ford Anglia (105 E) and Morris Minor powered the vehicles.
