Buckler engineering

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Buckler Engineering Ltd. was a British automobile manufacturer in Crowthorne (Berkshire) . Sports cars were manufactured there between 1949 and 1962. The founder and owner was Derek Buckler .

The manufacturer obtained its engines mainly from Ford or Coventry Climax . In 1949 the first car, the Mark V Airflow with a 1172 cc Ford four-cylinder engine , was presented. It was the first car in the UK to have a spaceframe . From 1950, engines from Coventry Climax were also used in addition to Ford engines. The last model, the Mark DD2 manufactured from 1957 to 1962 , could - depending on customer requirements - be equipped with all possible engines up to 2.0 l displacement.

After 1957, the last new model to be developed was the Mark BB (BB = Backbone). But only a prototype was created.

In the late 1950s, Buckler sold his company for health reasons. The new owners continued to build the current models until 1962.
