Lenham Motor Company Limited , formerly Vintage Sports Car Garage , is a British manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Julian K. Booty founded in the February 6, 1962 Lenham Square , the company Vintage Sports Car Garage as a classic car workshop. In 1967 it became the Lenham Motor Company Limited with Peter Rix as a partner. The location was now in Harrietsham . The production of racing and sports cars began. The brand name is Lenham . At times, Gerhard Elsner imported vehicles from Herne to Germany. Production ended in 1984. Years later, David Coplowe acquired the company and has continued production in Uckfield ever since .

First, conversions based on the Austin-Healey Sprite were made . The Le Mans GT was a coupe and the GTO a roadster . Both models were offered again after the takeover by David Coplowe.

The first independent model was a racing car for Group 6 in 1969, but it could also be registered as a road vehicle. Engines from BMW and Ford were in mid-engine layout mounted and drove to the rear axle. The body was made of plastic .

The Healey 3000 model came out at the end of 1977 . Julian Booty designed the body. It was again made of plastic, only the hood was made of aluminum . The open sports car offered space for two people. Original six-cylinder engines from Austin Healey with either 2600 cm³ or 3000 cm³ displacement powered the vehicles. This model was produced until 1984.
