Manta was a British car brand.

Brand history

A. Harrington (Adrian or Aidan, depending on the source), who previously worked at Connaught Cars , and Roy King founded Power on Wheels in Send in 1969 and began producing automobiles and kits . One model was branded Manta . Production at Power on Wheels ended in 1971. JB Developments continued production from 1972 to 1976. Volkscare & Custom from Horsham from 1986 to 1987 and GT Moldings from Portslade from 1987 to 2003 were the next manufacturers. Martyn and Rob Falk from Birmingham-based KMR Beach Buggies continued production until 2008. A total of about 305 copies were made.

It was exported to Belgium , the Netherlands , Malta , Corfu , the Canary Islands , Iceland and the Far East .

The only model was the Manta Ray . This was a VW buggy . This vehicle was based on a shortened chassis from the VW Beetle . Of the first version, 40 copies were made in eight months. The second version appeared in August 1970 and sold better with 250 copies. In 1987 the third version appeared, of which around 30 kits were created.
