Avante Cars was a British manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Melvyn Kay founded the company in Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire in 1982 . He started producing automobiles and kits . The brand name was Avante . Production ended in 1986. Top Hat Coachworks from Blackpool under the direction of Paul de Roma continued production in 1987. A total of about 30 copies were made.

vehicles

The chassis of the VW Beetle formed the basis of the vehicles . A coupé body was mounted on it. Usually an air-cooled four - cylinder boxer engine from the VW Beetle powered the vehicle, but water-cooled four - cylinder in- line engines from Volkswagen were also available.

The first model was two-seater. About 25 copies were made between 1982 and 1987.

In 1983 the +2 added to the range. It was bigger and longer and could accommodate 2 + 2 people. About five copies were made by 1987.
