from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lester-MG was a British car brand.

Brand history

Harry Lester began producing automobiles in his company of the same name in Knebworth in 1949 . The brand name was Lester-MG . In 1949 the company moved to Thatcham and in 1951 the name was changed to Lester Cars (1951) Ltd. In 1954, The Monkey Stable from London took over production and continued production until 1955. A total of about 20 copies were made.

vehicles

The vehicles were intended for club races, but they were also street legal. The basis was a frame designed by Lester on which an open two-seater body was mounted. Tuned MG engines powered the vehicles. Depending on the racing class, the displacement was reduced from the original 1250 cm³ to 1087 cm³ or increased to 1467 cm³.

1955 there were still plans for a coupé with a body made of fiberglass and an engine from Coventry Climax .

The auction house Brooks auctioned the vehicle with the British registration number 140 AHK on June 20, 1997 for 11,500 pounds . H & H offered the vehicle with the registration number HS 8860 at an auction on March 1, 2007 , but did not sell it. On September 15, 2012, Bonhams auctioned a coupé with the registration number GUO 209 for 25,217 euros . An American classic car dealer then offered the same vehicle for $ 57,500 .
