Knebworth is a village in Hertfordshire , England . Knebworth is internationally known for the rock and pop concerts that take place there again and again. These open air concerts are not held in the village but on the grounds of Knebworth House .
The area has been inhabited since the Stone Age, in the Domesday Book the place is mentioned for the first time under the name Chenepeworde , the first population record dates from 1084 with 150 inhabitants.
Ownership of the property changed over the years, but since 1492 the Knebworth House property has been owned by the English family Lytton / Bulwer-Lytton / Lytton Cobbold. The property itself and the local St. Mary's Parish Church were built in 1120.
