Concerts in Knebworth
Knebworth is the venue for regular open-air rock and pop music concerts . They are carried out under changing names in the park area of the country house Knebworth House , near the village of Knebworth in the English county of Hertfordshire . The area about 4 km south of Stevenage is designed for a capacity of up to 125,000 spectators.
The first concert in Knebworth with the Allman Brothers Band in 1974 drew over 60,000 visitors. Numerous internationally known bands and performers followed, including Pink Floyd , The Rolling Stones , Genesis , Frank Zappa , Led Zeppelin , Mike Oldfield , Cliff Richard , Deep Purple , Queen , Status Quo , Paul McCartney , Eric Clapton , Elton John , Phil Collins , Robert Plant , Dire Straits , Oasis , Robbie Williams , Metallica and Red Hot Chili Peppers .
