65daysofstatic (also 65dos ) is an instrumental math rock and post rock band from Sheffield , United Kingdom . The band combines hard, progressive , guitar-heavy instrumental music with a sampled off-beat - drums in the style of Aphex Twin .

history

65daysofstatic was founded in 2001 consisting of Joe "Joe-Fro" Shrewsbury, Paul Wolinski and Iain Armstrong. Armstrong left the band in May 2003 and was replaced by Feedle, who was a brief member of the band but had a role in writing their first single on their debut album The Fall of Math , Retreat! Retreat! had played.

In late 2003, Rob Jones and Gareth Hughes joined, with Hughes leaving the band in 2004 and being replaced by Simon Wright. At this time the album The Fall of Math and the first single Retreat was released! Retreat! which starts with a sample of Matt Dillon's voice from the movie Singles . The second single Hole was released in 2005 as a half-hour 7-track EP . Music videos were produced for both single releases.

The 7 "single Radio Protector from the second album One Time for All Time (2005), limited to 1500 copies , was released in 2006. According to the band's website, it will only be this single single. The first 1000 copies have an individual Polaroid photo of the front, which were shot by the 65 family between November 10, 2005 and February 7, 2006. The same image (distant fires) is found on copies 1001–1500.

On April 26, 2010, We Were Exploding Anyway, the band's fourth album, was released on the Hassle Records record label. According to the first record reviews, the band moves away from the original post rock to an electronic club sound with the new work. The band increases the use of synthesizers and uses electric guitars and drums less often.

In 2016 they provided the soundtrack for the computer game No Man's Sky by Hello Games .
