Hello Games was founded in February 2008 by former employees of development studios such as Criterion Games , Electronic Arts and Kuju Entertainment . Your first computer game, Joe Danger , is a side-scroller with elements from racing games and platformer , which was released in June 2010 for the PlayStation 3 . In the same year, Hello Games won an award for Best New Studio and Best Small Studio at the Develop Awards . In September 2010, the British Guardian listed them in a list of the 100 most innovative and creative companies in the past twelve months. The studio announced the successor to their first work, Joe Danger 2: The Movie , during Gamescom 2011 . The developers' current project is No Man's Sky , which was presented to the general public for the first time at VGX 2013 .

On December 24, 2013, the studio's offices were flooded due to a river that had been trodden over. According to his own statement, all objects in the office are said to have been destroyed. Regular data backups meant that not too much data was lost, and development progress was not slowed down.

Almost two and a half years later, on June 21, 2016, No Man's Sky was supposed to be released for the PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows . However, this deadline could not be kept because the game needs even more development time. On May 27 of the same year, lead designer Sean Murray announced that the game had been postponed to August 9 ( US ) and August 10 ( Europe ).
