Develop was a trade magazine published eleven times a year by the British publisher Intent Media for the computer game industry . The magazine was published in digital and print form and the editorial office was located in Hertford , Hertfordshire .
description
The magazine was first published in 1996 by Blenheim Business Publications under the title Develop !: The newsletter for producers, designers, and publishers of interactive entertainment . The magazine has been published by Intent Media since 2000. It was aimed primarily at computer game developers and was open to contributions from anyone working in the computer game sector. It described itself as “ the only magazine written by, for and about games developers ” (German: “the only game magazine that is written by, for and about game developers”). In March 2007, the publisher presented a large-scale redesign of the magazine. In addition, the magazine had been running an accompanying online portal since July 2007, first under developmag.com and later under develop-online.net. As of August 2013, the portal had an average of over 320,000 unique visits and a little less than 600,000 page views per month .
In November 2017, NewBay announced that all activities and the magazine Develop will be discontinued in spring 2018 . As a result, only the MCVUK brand still exists in the publishing house .
further activities
Develop 100 was an annual ranking for game developers published by the magazine. It rates the top game developers based on a variety of criteria, including sales data, critical opinions, and the company's status in the industry.
Since 2006 the magazine has hosted the annual The Develop Conference in Brighton .
