Eden Games is a French computer game development studio founded in 1998 . The company became famous for developing several racing simulations. In 2013 it was closed by the parent company Atari SA . In 2014 the studio returned and started developing Gear.Club .

Company history

The company was founded in 1998 as Eden Studios. In 2002 the company was completely taken over by Infogrames (later Atari SA), which previously held a 19.8% stake in Eden. In 2003, the studio was renamed Eden Games to show that it belongs to the games industry .

The company's best-known titles include the V-Rally series and Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed . The studio's last track was Test Drive Unlimited II .

In 2011 Atari unexpectedly announced that 51 of the 80 remaining developers would be fired. This created discontent among the Eden workforce. The employees therefore went on a symbolic daily strike on May 11, 2011, through which they wanted to express their dissatisfaction with the dismissal plans and the, in their opinion, mismanagement of the group. In 2012, reports appeared that Atari's studio had been closed after lengthy quarrels between employees and the parent company. This representation was contradicted shortly afterwards by Atari and confirmed that the studio would continue to be maintained and expanded. Seven months later, on April 12, 2013, the end was finally announced.

On September 30, 2013, after Atari's bankruptcy, it was announced on the official website of the developer studio that the studio would continue to exist and would soon dare to restart. In April 2014, the Eden Games website returned with a new design, where job advertisements are used to search for employees for a new racing game.

In December 2015, Eden Games released a new racing game called Gear.Club for the Apple TV. The iOS and Android mobile platforms followed in October and November 2016. A version for the Nintendo Switch will also be released on January 12, 2017 under the name Gear.Club Unlimited.
