Evolution Studios Ltd. was a British video game developer .
Company history
The company was founded in 1999 by Martin Kenwright ( Digital Image Design ) and Ian Hetherington ( Psygnosis ). The headquarters were in Runcorn , Cheshire . A branch was at Bigbig Studios in Warwickshire .
Both Evolution and Bigbig Studios were acquired by Sony Computer Entertainment in September 2007 .
In January 2012, it was announced that Sony had closed Bigbig Studios after completing work on Little Deviants .
On October 8, 2014, Evolution Studios released the PS4- exclusive racing game Driveclub . The game was originally intended as a launch title for the PlayStation 4 last year. In order to fine-tune the design, it was postponed at the time.
On March 22, 2016 the studio was closed. Most of the employees were taken over by the Codemasters studio .
