Rocksteady Studios is a UK video game development studio based in Highgate , London . The company is part of the Time Warner media group .

Company history

Rocksteady Studios was founded by Jamie Walker and Sefton Hill , who previously worked as creative directors and production managers, respectively, at the independent development studio Argonaut Games . After Argonaut closed in 2004, they both founded the studio with financial support from the publisher SCi Entertainment (later Eidos). In return, SCi received 25.1% shares. SCi also entrusted the new studio with the development of the game Roll Call, which was previously under development at Argonaut . The game was released in 2006 under the title Urban Chaos: Riot Response . With the support of the American television producer Paul Dini , Rocksteady then developed an adaptation of the Batman comic series . The game, titled Batman: Arkham Asylum , was released in 2009 through SCi Entertainment's new owner, Square Enix , and received critical acclaim. In February 2010, the media group Time Warner , owner of the Batman license, took over a majority stake in Rocksteady through its subsidiary Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment , with Square Enix Europe still maintaining its shares. In 2011 Warner Bros. distributed Batman: Arkham City, a successor to Arkham Asylum , which also received great critical acclaim and numerous awards. During the games fair E3 2016, another title from the Arkham series was announced, but only for the PlayStation VR . Show is Batman: Arkham VR in October 2016th
